Craig finished the rest of the beers at home. The pain and guilt of not being able to do anything to help find Kate was eating away at him. He felt so ashamed of his relapse. Crying to himself, he began to wonder if he'd ever see his daughter again.

He stared at his phone, hoping to see an incoming call or message to say Kate had been found and that she was safe and well. But there was nothing. His thoughts remained on all the bad things that might be happening to her. Craig knew the world was a bad place and some people in it would take advantage of a young girl like her.

Then, Craig thought back to his younger years and how he treated her mother. No wonder she ran away , he thought to himself as he remembered every punch, kick and slap he threw at Maria. Tears dripped from his eyes as he looked back at all the horrific things he'd done in his life. I deserved to rot in prison .

Grabbing the beer can off his coffee table, Craig swigged the last remaining drops before squeezing it out of shape. He chucked the can across the room in a fit of emotional rage. He couldn't control his emotions and he let them get the better of him.

He let his body drop to the floor, hard enough to make a huge thud. He sobbed loudly. He'd ruined his entire life due to drink and drugs. Craig had ruined his family and lost out on years of his daughter's life. Maybe if I hadn't been the way I was, none of this would be happening .
